Canon Sees Strong Growth in 2017 in Croatia

According to recent numbers one of the biggest companies in printing and photo and video segment Canon sees strong growth in Croatia, said regional manager Goran Sretenoski exclusively for ICTbusiness.biz. At Canon we expect to see 2018 results as the highest in a decade, helped largely by its diversification into new fields such as medical equipment and network video solutions, Sretenoski said.

What is the position of Canon on Croatian and regional markets in photo equipment?

At Canon we traditionally hold very strong position on Croatian market. We reached double digit growth  in 2017 and got awarded with strong No.1 position and above 60% market share in DSLR cameras - above regional and EU average.

In which segment do you see the potential growth?

For Canon, the traditional camera and printer market still represents some 70% of our business, but its undisputable that we are unique in the way we can apply existing technologies and platforms onto new fields: network video systems with intelligent software, robots using Canon sensors for computer vision, applied solutions in the field of medicine - ophthalmology, digital X-ray radiography.

Canon has purchased Toshiba medical. How do you see the market trends for Canon in this segment?

Toshiba Medical Systems officially changed its name to Canon Medical Systems on 4 January. Canon will continue to expand and accelerate the growth of our medical equipment business and contribute to better healthcare throughout the world.

Profesional video and photo equipment are traditionally good for Canon. What are the market trends now?

The Photography market has reached maturity. Smartphones have ensured exceptional growth and expansion of the photography market, they have taken the entry class, and helped us develop middle- and high-end cameras with connectivity features. Professionals now have maximum connectivity at their fingertips.

The world of cinema and TV is radically changing on every level, from workflows all the way through to how production teams shoot and display footage. Canon is constantly innovating to meet the needs of broadcasters and filmmakers. We provide high-quality, ease-of-use and flexibility that empowers creative shooting potential.

In professional videography and cameras for video enthusiasts 4K/UHD/50P has become the standard. We are very well positioned on the market with our EOS Cinema range, while our complete lineup of 4K Cine zoom lenses for large-format, single-sensor cameras were recognized at the 69th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards.

As audiences evolve and increasingly expect 4K resolution and beyond, it’s important for our technology to keep pace. We are doing our bests to listen to needs of professional storytellers and build their trust.

In the printing segment, Canon sees the biggest growth in the last couple of years. What do you expect in coming years?
