Digitalization is fundamentally changing companies and their business models the world over. The healthcare sector, too, is on the cusp of radical change that will affect every aspect of the patient journey. This pending paradigm shift raises many questions which will be addressed at CeBIT's d!conomy Healthcare Digital Summit.

The public healthcare sectors of many developed countries are increasingly coming under fire from patient advocacy groups for being enormously expensive behemoths weighed down by inefficiency, outmoded processes and steadily declining patient care levels. Digitalization can help to address these issues in every part of the healthcare system.

The first-ever "d!conomy Healthcare" summit at this year’s CeBIT will seek to quantify the potential gains of digitalization as well as pinpointing priority areas. The summit will feature an international panel of experts, scientists and practitioners who will be exploring the drivers, implications, risks and opportunities of digitalization in the healthcare sector.

"d!conomy Healthcare" is designed to serve as a platform where stakeholders can share their know-how and views on the role of digital technologies in the healthcare sector. In the course of multiple presentations and workshops on the subject of "What’s up Digital Health? Ideas, Business Models, Possibilities," the participants will debate a wide range of issues, including the impacts of government policy changes.

"What can we do to exploit the full potential of digitalization in healthcare?" and other topical issues that will be covered include the question of what patient data should be off limits and the extent of patients’ willingness to share their personal information. The possibility of creating worldwide networks that provide shared access to specialist expertise and the question of what medical professionals need in order to use these new technologies will also be addressed at the summit.
