120 Million AI Pay Transactions in a Single Week

The conversation around AI-driven commerce is shifting as concrete examples demonstrate real transaction volume, the NielsenIQ report stated. According to Ant Group, Alipay's AI Pay processed more than 120 million transactions during the week of February 5–11, 2026. Meanwhile, Adobe Analytics reported that traffic from generative AI sources to US retail websites increased by 1,200% between July 2024 and February 2025.

AI is emerging as a connective layer across multiple commerce formats—from live shopping and social commerce to quick commerce platforms. However, there's a notable gap between AI capability and consumer trust. While consumers increasingly use AI to research products and summarize reviews, adoption of AI-completed purchases remains limited. NielsenIQ data shows approximately 34% of consumers use AI to research products and 23% to summarize reviews, yet only about 8% have let AI complete a purchase for them.

The scale of opportunity is significant. Analysts estimate the global agentic-commerce market at $3–5 trillion by 2030, with projections suggesting AI agents could drive $190–385 billion (roughly 10–20%) of US e-commerce by 2030, according to Morgan Stanley. Alibaba's Qwen assistant reached 100 million monthly active users within two months of launch, demonstrating rapid adoption in key markets.

For brands, this shift fundamentally changes visibility dynamics. When AI agents shortlist products, the traditional path from impression to click to cart collapses. Companies with incomplete or machine-unreadable product data risk becoming invisible to the systems increasingly determining purchasing decisions. Success will require structuring product data effectively, earning visibility in AI consideration sets, and adapting performance measurement for an agent-mediated commerce environment.
