Nvidia to Spend $2 Billion on European AI Deals
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has outlined plans to invest $2 billion across Europe to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence and the company’s product portfolio. He announced the initiative during an event in Paris, which serves as part of a regional tour including visits to London and Berlin.
Huang indicated that the new investments, scheduled for formal announcement next week, are in addition to the $8 billion the firm had previously committed to the continent. He also announced fresh funding initiatives for several French startups, including Doctolib, Genesis AI, Pigment, and Entalpic.
The Nvidia founder also advocated for the use of open-source models, arguing that their cost-efficiency and flexibility could assist Europe in narrowing the gap with the United States regarding advanced AI. The semiconductor manufacturer remains a primary partner of the French firm Mistral AI, which develops open-weight AI models. Nvidia has both invested in Mistral and provides the accelerators required for its data center operations.
