TSMC Set to Raise Prices by 10 Percent in 2027
TSMC plans to raise its chipmaking prices by as much as 10% in 2027. The company is forced to hike prices to counter increased manufacturing costs.
The company reportedly held discussions with clients about the move since June, which have now been finalised and are scheduled to take effect from the beginning of 2027. Base prices on advanced and mature semiconductors are expected to increase by between 5% and 10%.
The decision was driven by rising manufacturing costs spanning materials, equipment and power resources. TSMC reportedly chose to wait until 2027 to implement the move to give customers time to adjust. TSMC does not typically implement sudden price increases, focusing instead on ensuring profit and growth margin are sufficient to fund long-term sustained expansion.
The additional funds would help fund a major expansion in the US, where TSMC recently pledged to invest an additional $100 billion by 2030. It has earmarked a total investment of $265 billion to build out its presence in the US state of Arizona.
