The Czech security solutions market (comprising software, appliances, and services) grew by almost 14% year on year in 2016, according to the new study from IDC. Escalating security concerns are expected to drive further market expansion throughout the forecast period, with spending approaching $400 million by 2021.

Despite a slowdown in security appliance spending, which was largely the result of cyclical spending patterns, strong growth in demand for security services and upgrades to existing security software drove expansion of the overall market. Security threats and the widespread media coverage of major attacks and breaches are driving C-level attention to security and helping managers make the case for investments.

Compliance is another key concern, with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into effect in May 2018, the Czech Cybersecurity Law continuing to be developed and extended, and other regional, national, and sector-specific regulations impacting a wide range of organizations across all vertical markets. For some organizations, fulfilling seemingly endless audit requirements is itself becoming a burden on resources, and IDC expects progressive uptake of Policy & Compliance, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Forensics & Incident Investigation solutions to automate and accelerate some of these processes and ease the demands on over-stretched security teams.

In vendor terms, two key groups dominated the Czech security solutions market: the endpoint security software providers ESET, Symantec, and Avast Software; and major security services players such as IBM, HPE, AutoCont, and ICZ. Vendors such as Cisco and Check Point, with a broad cross-platform presence on the market, also held significant shares in the top 10.

IDC's Czech Security Solutions market study quantifies the development and projected future growth of security investments in the country. The study offers detailed forecast data for security spending in the appliances, software, and services segments by subcategory. The comprehensive study was designed to help vendors and IT decision makers understand the direction of security-related spending in the Czech market today and over the next five years.
