Hrvatski Telekom leads the sustainable business in Croatia. The prestigious Financial Times included HT on the list of European climate leaders for 2022.

FT and Statista published a list of European climate leaders selected this year among a total of 4,000 companies from 33 European countries, based on the success of their ESG agendas and activities in environmental protection, social engagement, and governance. The criteria for companies have further tightened this year.

The two key criteria are the overall reduction of core greenhouse gas emissions in operation in the 2015 to 2020 period and the reduction in the intensity of these emissions expressed through the ratio of greenhouse gas emissions and revenues. HT reduced its total greenhouse gas emissions between 2015 and 2020 by as much as 68.5 percent, which is the third-best achievement in the entire European telecommunications industry in the observed period. HT and Valamar Riviera are the only Croatian companies on the list.

"We are proud that our activities have been recognized and that we have been identified as a climate leader in a large international selection. As a socially conscious company, we have a responsibility and obligation to lead by example and give our tangible contribution to environmental protection and the fight against climate change. We are systematically dealing with this in all areas of our operations. We have been using renewable electricity for years. Due to the 100 percent transition to renewable electricity in 2021 alone, we did not emit more than 40,000 tons of CO2 into the air. We aim to contribute to a more sustainable future when smart solutions and the infrastructure we build will enable others to manage resources more efficiently and operate and live more sustainably in smart cities," said Marijana Bačić, Vice President of Corporate Sales and ICT Services at Hrvatski Telekom.
