IFA Berlin, globally recognized as the premier event for Consumer Electronics, Home Appliances, and Future Tech, has initiated its IFA Media Days ahead of the main exhibition's official opening. Throughout the coming days, attendees will have the opportunity to observe firsthand how AI and robotics technologies are transitioning from theoretical concepts into practical, everyday applications that are already in use today.

In his opening remarks, IFA Management CEO Leif Lindner observed that current technological progress is moving at a significantly faster pace than previous industrial revolutions. Artificial intelligence is evolving beyond content creation and complex problem-solving to increasingly operate within the physical world. Concurrently, the industry is seeing smaller, more energy-efficient AI models being integrated directly into consumer hardware such as smartphones, vehicles, and household appliances.

“The future is no longer something on the distant horizon. The future is now. But technology alone does not create progress. It only reaches its full potential when people can understand it, try it out, and help shape it. That is exactly what IFA stands for: We make innovation tangible and provide guidance at a time when technology is changing faster than ever before”, said Lindner.

The event features diverse showcases, such as RoboCup, where autonomous robots participate in football matches, and “Robots on the Runway,” which highlights the convergence of humanoid robotics, movement, and entertainment. Beyond the hardware, IFA serves as a cross-sector hub connecting technology with culture, politics, and business. Specific formats like the Retail Leaders Summit, the Retail Innovation Zone, and IFA Next are designed to facilitate networking between international brands, researchers, startups, and policy-makers.

Through initiatives like the Creator Hub and live podcasts in the Sommergarten, IFA is successfully extending technological discourse beyond traditional exhibition halls. The event's appeal is also shifting toward a younger demographic; data indicates that one in two private visitors is now under the age of 35, while approximately two-thirds of all attendees are returning visitors.

“The market is stronger than current sentiment would suggest. Targeted innovations that make consumers' everyday lives easier, improve energy efficiency or open up new possibilities for use are crucial to growth. The future of the technical consumer goods market is therefore being shaped not only by technology, but above all by the ability to translate innovation into tangible benefits for everyday life. All of these topics, together with the related products and developments, can be seen and experienced at IFA 2026 over the coming days,” explained Carine Chardon, Managing Director of GFU.
