Orange Recorded a Small Revenue Growth in the Third Quarter

During the third quarter of the year, Orange had a a small rise in revenue, mostly beacuse of good results in Africa and the Middle East. At home, in France and Spain, the operator has had another quarter of decline.

Company's revenue grew 0.8 percent year-on-year to €10.6 billion, with operating profit growing modestly, up 0.2 percent at €3.6 billion, the operator said in a statement. Africa and the Middle East sales rose 7.6 percent to €1.4 billion. The company said eight countries out of 17 recorded double-digit growth. Now it has 22.5 million 4G customers, an increase of 49 percent.

European markets offer a different story. Revenue dropped 0.4 percent to €4.5 billion in France, and the company stated it is the impact of its ePresse and audiobook content offers. The decline in Spain was even more severe. Revenue was down 2.5 percent to €1.3 billion, mostly due to general market moves and increased competition. Revenue from the company’s rest of Europe segment grew 1.4 percent.

The total number of convergent customer grew 4.1 percent to 10.7 million. At the same time, the company had 209.4 million mobile customers overall, a 4.2 per cent increase. Orange chairman and CEO Stephane Richard said that the results “further attest to the relevance of our very high-speed broadband network strategy“. He added the company plans to hold a presentation to announce a new strategic plan, up to 2025.
