TCL Launched Multi-Category Smart Products

At the IFA 2019 in Berlin, TCL launched a full suite of new innovations and smart products. The product categories, which incorporate AI, range from TVs and audio products to smartphones.

At the same time, TCL outlined its new “AI x IoT“ strategy, essentially one that moves on from dovetailing the two technologies to integrating them more deeply across the product range. The product launch and new strategy form part of TCL’s broader plan to continuously push forward business diversification, in parallel to its core TV business. Ultimately, the company aims to become one of the world’s leading smart technology companies that helps customers globally live a smart and healthy life.

“TCL is continually investing in research and technology to improve the overall customer experience and help them live a smart life,“ said Kevin Wang, CEO of TCL. “To achieve this, we’re already putting our premium entertainment experience into peoples’ homes. We’re looking to further enhance that experience through the closer integration of AI and IoT.“

In the TV segment, company’s flagship 8K QLED X Series, which is available in 85-, 75- and 65-inch models, offers 8K definition viewing experience. It is equipped with a retractable built-in camera, which will ascend and descend automatically when prompted by applications. The series also supports augmented reality which should further enhance the user experience. It also features a duo-display design, alongside the main TV screen, so viewers can enjoy a mini-screen on an independent audio device that provides information to viewers, as well as controls for smart connections and settings throughout the home.

The Mini LED Series comes in several sizes and with a variety of functions. The premier model is a 75-inch 8K Mini LED TV. Its backlight is driven by 25,200 high-performance LEDs, delivering brightness of up to 1200 nits, between two and five times the brightness of a regular TV. It also features 900 local dimming zones to deliver high contrasts.

The TCL PLEX brings the brand’s display expertise to a mobile device. Featuring NXTVISION, a proprietary advanced display optimization and camera technology, the screen features enriched color with clarity and contrast enhancement in real-time. The in-house 6.53-inch FHD+ TCL Dotch display with a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio is also equipped with various display modes to ensure clarity and protect users’ eyes from strain.

Sporting a triple camera setup with a 48MP ultra high-res Sony sensor, a separate dedicated video camera with 2.9μm big pixel low-light sensor and a 16MP 123° super wide-angle camera, this smartphone should offer high photography capabilities especially in low-light. It also enables users to control selected TCL smart TVs and brings connection with up to four bluetooth speakers or headphones. TCL also revealed RAY·DANZ, a 3.1-channel Atmos sound bar, and two models of wireless headphones.
