At MWC19 in Barcelona, Huawei showcased the 5G CPE Pro, the CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) that provides ultra-high speed broadband and intelligent Dual-Link features. First unveiled last month at an exclusive launch event, the CPE is designed to achieve stronger, “zero-distance“ connectivity between people and connected machines.

5G CPE Pro utilizes its proprietary Balong 5000, the world’s first 5G multimode modem chipset. The power of the chipset enables the router to be the first to support commercial application of 4G and 5G dual-modes. It is the first to have the capacity to perform to industry benchmarks of peak 5G download speeds. The dual-mode elements allow for the device to default to 4G, should the 5G coverage not be strong enough.

“Huawei’s dedication to R&D has continued to push technology and connectivity forward since the beginning, and we’re able to make advancements and drive the 5G sector even in its early stages,“ said Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group. “We started exploring and investing in 5G back in 2009, and because of this, we’re welcoming and prepared for this new era of 5G. We’re committed to developing smart ecosystems across all sectors.“

5G CPE Pro utilizes fiber-like up to 3.2Gbps speeds in commercial network to support ultra-high definition visual communications and multimedia interactions. Additionally, it utilizes dedicated video channel and game accelerator channel technology, meaning video performance, even for 8K media, or Computer Graphic VR game, is never compromised. During MWC 2019, Huawei also showcased two new Balong 5000-equipped products: 5G CPE Win and 5G CPE Mobile.
