AMD Achieves First TSMC N2 Product Silicon Milestone
AMD announced that its next-generation EPYC processor, codenamed “Venice,” is the first HPC product in the industry to be taped out and brought up on the TSMC advanced 2nm (N2) process technology.
At Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm announced the most powerful computing processor it has ever created for the PC. The company unveiled several new solutions, headlined by the new mobile platform for premium smartphones.
According to the vendor, Snapdragon X Elite, a chip for Windows-based PCs, will be faster at some tasks than Apple's chips for Mac computers. The company said it was redesigned to better handle AI tasks like summarizing emails, writing text, and generating images.
The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC for premium smartphones was also advertised with improved AI performance. The company said it is also more power efficient compared to its predecessor and will significantly enhance the overall performance of the upcoming mobile devices.
Among other novelties, Qualcomm unveiled new hardware and software solutions for improved connectivity called Snapdragon Seamless Experience. The company also announced S7 & S7 Pro Gen1 Sound platforms, designed for earbuds, headphones, and speakers.
