Ookla has recognized Hrvatski Telekom as one of the world's ten fastest mobile networks in 2020. The ranking is based on Ookla's analysis of millions of tests run by users across each network to test the internet speed using various apps on the web and mobile platforms.
Speedtest awards for leading network providers are determined using a Speed Score tool that includes measuring each service provider (download and transfer) to rank network speed performance. HT received two Ookla awards in July for the second year in a row, for the fastest mobile network in Croatia and for the best mobile coverage. The company also received the best mobile network award and for the best broadband coverage based on an international analysis conducted by umlaut (formerly P3).
This year, HT was the first in Croatia to commercially deploy the 5G network, which is the foundation of the future technological development of the economy and society. The commercial 5G network is based on Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) technology, the application of which allows existing frequencies to be used for 5G. The dynamic spectrum sharing technology allows for the fast implementation of the 5G network and reduces the need for new base stations and locations on specific 5G frequencies.
The quality of a mobile network today is no longer demonstrated solely through technical specifications, but through the real experience of users in their everyday use.
The debate around 6G is no longer centred only on how much faster or more advanced the next generation of networks will be. It is increasingly about connecting research, industry, government, and real market demand into a workable development model.
Satellite communications are entering a new stage in which they are no longer just the last resort for areas without terrestrial infrastructure, but an increasingly important part of the wider telecom architecture.
