Telekom Ranks No. 1 in Europe for Stable Mobile Performance

Deutsche Telekom’s mobile network in Germany has secured the European title of “Most Consistent Mobile Network” at the latest Ookla Speedtest Awards. In a comprehensive Europe-wide analysis involving more than 120 mobile operators, Telekom took the top spot for performance consistency during the first half of 2026. The operator also maintained a strong presence in other regional categories, ranking second for “Fastest Mobile Network” and third for “Best Mobile Network.”
The “Most Consistent Mobile Network” designation focuses on reliability rather than isolated speed records. Ookla determines the ranking by how often an operator meets specific performance thresholds across its measurement data. For the European awards, these benchmarks are set at a minimum of 50 Mbps for downloads and 10 Mbps for uploads—performance needed for simultaneous HD video streaming, video conferencing, and background app use. Telekom achieved a “Consistency Score” of 73.25, meaning that over 73 percent of its tested results met or exceeded these high-tier requirements.
“Peak speeds are important – and we deliver them. But what matters most to our customers is being able to rely on their network in everyday life. The award shows that our network delivers consistently strong performance. That is why we continue to systematically expand our network. At the same time, we use our Customer Experience Index to measure the actual network experience of our customers and improve it in a targeted way. Following eleven national Ookla awards, this top European ranking is further confirmation of the quality of our network. It is made possible by the dedication of our technical teams every day and our ongoing investments in the network,” said Alex Jenbar, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Telekom in Germany.
This European recognition follows a period of significant domestic success for the operator. In the first half of 2026, Telekom swept every mobile category at the Ookla Speedtest Awards within Germany, making it the first operator in the country to be recognized across all national categories. These awards evaluate a wide spectrum of network quality metrics, including speed, coverage, and the specific experiences of video and gaming users. Telekom’s lead was especially notable in the speed categories, where its measured download speeds were more than three times higher than those of its nearest competitor.
