Ericsson Nikola Tesla and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing of the University of Zagreb have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on developing new cooperation models in teaching and research. The goal is a closer connection of science and economy as a predisposition for local and national economic development.
To strengthen cooperation, the two organizations established Inventorium, a scientific and research laboratory located on ENT premises. The name itself is coined from the English word “invent” and the Latin word “laboratorium”, and represents a technological laboratory where innovative ideas for the future are created. It will be used for research activities and will enable researchers to work on the development of the latest ICT technologies. The plan is to start developing additional analytical methods by using AI to predict network behaviors and automate characteristics for optimum communication user experience. This will enable the creation and implementation of new ideas and obtaining new research results.

I believe that the scientific and research laboratory Inventorium will further strengthen our cooperation and open up new possibilities for working on joint projects, thus enabling the creation and realization of new ideas and the creation of new research results. The space, equipment, knowledge, and support of our employees are made available for various forms of activities that we will continue to jointly consider and define in a partnership relationship to further strengthen our teams for additional strides in the research area of the development of new technologies,” emphasized Gordana Kovačević, President of Ericsson Nikola Tesla.

FER is also recognized for its cooperation with the economy, and strengthening and expanding this cooperation is one of our strategic goals. The decades-long partnership between FER and ENT can serve as an example of good practice as it includes numerous models of cooperation in research, education, and innovation, continuously supplemented and developed, and which significantly contributes to the creation of talents and the development of their careers,” said Vedran Bilas, dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing of the University of Zagreb.
Ericsson Nikola Tesla no longer views artificial intelligence solely as a tool that helps developers write code, but as part of the entire software development lifecycle. At the upcoming ENT Technology Days, taking place from 21 to 25 September, artificial intelligence will also be among the central topics.
Siniša Krajnović, PhD, President of the Management Board of ENT, sees the transformation brought about by artificial intelligence through products, internal processes, and changes in the way work itself is performed, while Jelena Jurišić, Director of Technology of the ENT Group (CTO), explains how specialized AI agents are now part of analysis, design, implementation, testing, and verification. In such a model, autonomy increases gradually, with quality control and human decision-making at critical points. At the same time, the change does not diminish the importance of engineers, but increasingly shifts their role toward architecture, domain understanding, and the management of complex automated systems.
The CEOs of Anthropic and OpenAI, Dario Amodei and Sam Altman, have issued a joint call for the industry to moderate the current pace of frontier AI development.
