Ericsson announced a SaaS platform designed for operators to quickly set up 5G core network services on Google Cloud infrastructure. The product uses AI technology and infrastructure from its partner but is managed end-to-end by the Swedish vendor.

It provides the ability for customers to quickly set up and expand core network services, with the vendor noting users are able to scale service levels up or down as needed and only pay for what they use. Ericsson promoted the product as combining telecom-grade reliability with public cloud flexibility.

Using the examples of rapid rollout of fixed wireless access and wide-area enterprise networks, the company noted that the service provides the means to move from idea to execution with unprecedented speed. Ericsson VP, head of emerging segments, cloud software, and services Eric Parsons said its latest launch gives CTOs the agility to outpace market change, the confidence to innovate without compromise, and the clarity to seize opportunities that were previously just out of reach.
