Google Set to Exit Production in China
Google plans to move production of its Pixel lineup out of China by 2027.

Google plans to move production of its Pixel lineup out of China by 2027. The decision comes as the company expands manufacturing in Vietnam and India due to ongoing US-China tensions.
The tech giant also told suppliers it is targeting an 8% to 10% increase in Pixel shipments this year from around 12 million units in 2025. The move would make Google the second major smartphone manufacturer after Samsung to fully shift production out of China.
Sources said that, compared with Apple, Google has no burden to leave China since it does not sell Pixel phones in the Chinese market, adding that the progress in Vietnam is smooth, as Samsung has built a smartphone supply chain ecosystem there that Google could also access.
Google is reportedly combining memory chip orders for its cloud business and smartphones when negotiating with Micron, Samsung and SK Hynix, in an effort to strengthen its purchasing position. “The strategy for the Pixel phone this year is: Attack,” a source told the publication. “We are told Pixel phones need to keep their shipment growth momentum at all costs.”
