IBM iX Croatia to Open Office in Osijek

IBM's digital agency, IBM iX, will open its 57th office worldwide and the third in Croatia this year in Osijek. Part of the team is already working remotely from their homes in Osijek, and by December at the latest, they will formally open an office located in the business center "Eurodom".

Representatives of IBM iX announced the opening of the new branch at a meeting with journalists in Osijek, along with representatives of the local ICT community and local authorities. Although they point out that, following the corporation's policy, they do not like to talk about the number of employees, the leaders of the Croatian branch of this global company still revealed that by 2026 they expect to employ about a hundred employees at the Osijek location. And as far as their employees are concerned, it is certainly interesting to point out that in this segment iX is recording great growth. Thus, in the last five years, they have recorded a large increase in the number of employees in Croatia, about 450%.

"There are several reasons why we decided to come here. I would like to point out that Osijek has established technical faculties that create highly educated experts each year. Professionals we need. In addition, Osijek has built a strong IT community and become a regional center, which is very important to us. We believe that people from Osijek and its greater region are a great choice for our company", said the head of Adobe digital platforms at IBM iX Croatia Daniel Strmečki.

The Mayor of Osijek, Ivan Radić, also addressed the audience, welcoming the arrival of another global company: “I am extremely glad that you have recognized Osijek as a city of positive economic trends. We are currently recording the highest employment in the last 10 years. We want to be partners with every company, regardless of size, which is why we have provided HRK 4.5 million in this year's budget as support for small and medium enterprises. The arrival of IBM iX speaks in favor of the direction in which we want to develop the city", Radić said.

In recent years, Osijek has become an extremely attractive destination for global ICT players, and local tech companies, with their formal association called Osijek Software City, have made a great contribution to the city's excellent image. The fact that borders with three countries and several larger cities are located near Osijek also plays an important role in the arrival of global companies. The largest city in eastern Croatia has recently suffered a decrease in the number of inhabitants, yet now it has enough space for newcomers and can also expand existing and build new living blocks.
