Initial sales data in China and the US of the new iPhone series show a promising start. There is a stronger demand for the standard model in the new series than its predecessor a year ago.

The iPhone 17 series outsold its predecessor by 14% in the two countries during the first ten days of availability, the first indication of consumer demand for the new series. In China, unit sales of the base model, priced at $799, nearly doubled compared with the iPhone 16.

The new iPhone series was unveiled on 9 September and released in many countries on 19 September. Apple began accepting orders for the iPhone Air in China on 17 October after being forced to delay the launch because operators required approval from authorities to use eSIM.
