Mistral Looking Forward to Billions of New Investments

Mistral AI is close to billions of new investments. France-based company has expanded its strategic partnership with Microsoft through a multibillion-dollar agreement, as Samsung considers investing $1 billion into the startup.

Under the expanded deal, Microsoft will draw on Mistral’s expanded, Europe-based GPU capacity to increase its own AI computing availability, supporting the delivery of cloud and AI services while helping enterprises access frontier AI with greater control over their data and operations. Mistral stated it is adding capacity built on thousands of Nvidia’s latest Vera Rubin GPUs to provide a shared platform for training, inference, and large-scale deployment.

Microsoft framed the investment as consistent with its broader approach to global infrastructure, which combines its own data centers, leased facilities, and strategic partnerships with third-party providers. The deal also expands Microsoft’s capacity footprint in Europe and supports commitments the company made under its European Digital Commitments announced in 2025.

Simultaneously, Samsung is in talks to invest up to €1 billion in Mistral as part of a fundraising round that could value the French AI company at around €20 billion. A source said that Samsung is discussing the investment as part of a broader funding round, with Swedish investor EQT’s European Commission-backed Scaleup Europe Fund also expected to participate.

The South Korean company previously backed Mistral through its venture arm during a 2024 Series B funding round. The reported funding round comes less than a year after Mistral secured a €12 billion valuation in a Series C funding round, led by Dutch chipmaker ASML’s €1.5 billion investment. The potential Mistral investment also comes as Samsung steps up efforts to expand its footprint across emerging technologies.
