SAP expanded its cloud offering for European enterprises and public sector organizations. The software giant's solution meets digital sovereignty rules, an area the company has pledged to spend €20 billion in supporting.

Features within its extended SAP Sovereign Cloud range are intended to provide access to a complete technology stack across on- and off-site facilities. New deployment models have been created to provide control and tailored platforms for specific needs.

SAP’s offering includes an Infrastructure-as-a-Service platform, which stores data within the European Union, cloud infrastructure operated by the company either at its customers’ premises or a location selected by them, and a specific secure cloud for the public sector in Germany to meet rules unique to the country.

SAP member of the executive board Thomas Saueressig said the continent’s leadership in the next era of digital innovation, especially in AI, would depend on how effectively AI is applied to solve differentiated industry use cases. He added that the expansion of its sovereign cloud product range would provide access to the full spectrum of cloud innovations and AI capabilities for all markets and industries, while ensuring these advancements are delivered in a sovereign framework and on customers’ own terms.
