Google Employees Sign Letter Against Military AI Use
More than 560 Google employees signed an open letter to CEO Sundar Pichai, urging him to reject classified military contracts for the company’s AI technology.

The US government drafted new guidelines for AI suppliers, according to media reports. They require companies seeking federal contracts to allow their models to be used for any lawful purpose.
According to draft guidance from the US General Services Administration (GSA), AI suppliers would have to grant the government an irreversible licence to deploy their technology for all legal uses. The proposed rules also target perceived bias in AI outputs, stating contractors must provide a neutral, non-partisan tool that does not manipulate responses in favour of ideological dogmas such as diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The move follows an executive order from US President Donald Trump slamming “woke” AI models. Another clause would require vendors to disclose whether their models have been modified to comply with foreign regulations such as the EU Digital Services Act. The GSA plans to consult the industry before finalising the guidelines.
