After completing an acquisition of Intelsat, SES continued to strengthen its orbit presence. The company launched two additional birds on a SpaceX rocket from the US.
The 03b mPower satellites further expand the company’s medium Earth orbit (MEO) fleet, enhancing its global coverage and offering an incremental increase in capacity, SES stated. A further three satellites in the range are being built with a view to launches in 2026. SES stated these would deliver a threefold increase in capacity by 2027 when its 03B mPower constellation is fully deployed.
Initial satellites in the range, which went online in 2024, are already being used to provide services to mobility, government, enterprise, and cloud customers, SES explained. The launch of the latest pair brings the total number of 03b mPower birds in flight to ten. SES stated the MEO satellites are providing data rates from tens of Mb/s to multiple Gb/s to any site.
