CES to End One Day Sooner on Omicron Concerns

The fast spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 continues to cause problems for one of the biggest tech shows in the world. CES will end a day earlier than planned, the organizers informed.

Fears of disease spread already caused some big names to cancel physical attendance in Las Vegas. Large companies, including Amazon, Microsoft, AMD, Meta, Google, and many others decided not to participate in the show and will follow the event online. Others, like Sony, will have limited staffing and attendees at the event.

"The step was taken as an additional safety measure to the current health protocols that have been put in place for CES," the event organizer Consumer Technology Association (CTA) said. The show will now end on January 7. All attendees in Las Vegas will be required to be fully vaccinated and masked. COVID-19 test kits will also be provided at the venue.
