Cisco to Stop Activity in the LoRaWAN Market by End-2029
Cisco announced it would stop its activity in the LoRaWAN market for IoT device connectivity.
For the sixth year in a row, Hrvatski Telekom won the Ookla Speedtest Awards for the fastest mobile network and the best mobile coverage in Croatia. With an improvement in all parameters crucial to the customer experience, the company reaffirmed that it has the best network in Croatia.
Hrvatski Telekom's mobile network achieved the best Speed Score result of 148.81, an improvement of 23% compared to the same period in 2023. This is also the best Speed Score result ever recorded in Croatia when testing all generations of mobile networks. Thanks to continuous significant improvements in all segments, better results were achieved, including an increase in download speed of up to 35%. The analysis included more than 36 million scans generated by HT users.
The results are even more impressive given the significant increase in data traffic of 29% year-on-year, with average monthly data traffic during the summer of an unprecedented 72 million GB. The record number of roamers on HT's network also contributed to this. There were 1.1 million in August alone, 15% more than the previous year. Improvements in network performance are visible throughout Croatia, especially in the Adriatic counties, where HT increased speeds in all seven coastal counties by an average of 12%, despite traffic growth of 20% compared to the same period last year.
Investments of €101.5 million in the first half of 2024 in network infrastructure in urban and rural areas strengthened their leadership position in mobile and fixed networks. By building fiber optic infrastructure throughout Croatia, HT increased the FTTH network by 25% compared to last year. Today, they connect 146 cities and municipalities in 20 counties using gigabit optical speeds. In addition to coverage, HT also increased average speeds in the fixed network by as much as 25% annually.
"We are pleased to see the results of our investments and efforts in mobile and fixed network development reflected in the market's leading customer experience. Regardless, we are still committed to ensuring that everyone in Croatia is connected with fast internet access. Our focus remains on developing 5G and fiber optics and on retiring legacy technologies. We are also glad that with the establishment of the first campus networks in Croatia and open network APIs, we are entering the next phase of using and monetizing the 5G network," said Boris Drilo, Chief Technology and Chief Information Technology Officer at Hrvatski Telekom.
