Vertiv plans to expand its manufacturing campus in Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Slovakia, by approximately 22,000 square metres over the next 18 to 24 months, increasing production capacity for power and cooling infrastructure used in data centres, including systems supporting AI and high-performance computing.
The expansion will add manufacturing capacity for power systems, switchgear and thermal management technologies. These will include advanced liquid cooling and power solutions designed for the high-density environments increasingly associated with AI and HPC applications.
The Slovak investment follows a series of manufacturing capacity expansions by Vertiv across several markets. The company has recently undertaken expansion initiatives at facilities in Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Malaysia, Mexico and the United States. These investments are intended to increase production capacity for infrastructure serving cloud, enterprise, colocation and AI-oriented data centre environments.
In addition to adding manufacturing space, Vertiv plans to further integrate engineering, manufacturing and operational functions at the Nové Mesto nad Váhom site. The company expects this structure to improve its ability to respond to customised requirements, increase delivery capacity and strengthen its EMEA supply chain.
“As AI and other critical digital applications increase in the region, we continue to invest in our manufacturing capabilities across EMEA," said Paul Ryan, president of Vertiv in EMEA. "The expansion of Nové Mesto nad Váhom will enhance our ability to support customers deploying increasingly critical digital infrastructure while further strengthening our capabilities for next-generation AI and high-performance computing applications.”
Vertiv also links the expansion to the time required to bring AI infrastructure into operation. The company describes this through the concept of “time-to-token”, referring to the period between infrastructure deployment and the point at which AI workloads begin generating business value. Increasing compute density and demand for AI infrastructure are placing corresponding requirements on power and thermal management capacity.
“As organizations accelerate AI adoption, speed of deployment has become a critical competitive advantage. Reducing time-to-token, the time required to move from infrastructure deployment to business value generated by AI workloads, is becoming a key priority for customers,” Ryan said.
The manufacturing expansion is also expected to increase employment at the Slovak site. Vertiv expects the project to create hundreds of jobs between 2027 and 2029 across manufacturing, engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, technical and leadership functions.
Alongside the manufacturing investment, the company plans to continue employee training and professional development programmes and develop initiatives focused on recruitment and workforce mobility. These measures are intended to support the additional staffing requirements resulting from the expanded manufacturing operation.
"We envision Nové Mesto nad Váhom as a world-class manufacturing campus where people, technology, and innovation come together to serve some of the most technically advanced customers and demanding applications in the market," said Chris Hales, VP operations EMEA at Vertiv. "This investment will strengthen our industrial capabilities while creating an environment where talent can grow, innovation can flourish, and operational excellence can thrive."
Production from the expanded Slovak facility will target infrastructure requirements across hyperscale and cloud providers, colocation operators, neocloud companies, enterprise data centres and other applications requiring high levels of availability. The additional capacity will focus particularly on power and thermal infrastructure for high-density computing environments, where requirements are increasingly being shaped by AI and HPC workloads.
