Revolut Plans to Launch an MVNO

Revolut unveiled plans to launch an MVNO initially in the UK and Germany. Fintech player claims the move takes the fight to traditional network providers which are charging hefty European roaming charges.

The company, which claims more than 50 million customers globally, primarily for financial services, will allow its current users to join a waiting list and be the first to access Mobile Plans, at an introductory monthly rate of £12.50. This will give customers unlimited calls, texts, and data at home and a 20GB roaming allowance across Europe and the US, with no fixed contract commitments. It will also launch the offering in more markets in the future.

Mobile Plans builds on the launch of Revolut’s eSIM play in 2024, which it stated has been used in more than 100 locations worldwide and is the company’s number one non-banking product in terms of usage. Mobile Plans will be integrated into the Revolut app with intuitive usage tracking and in-app controls.

Hadi Nasrallah, general manager of Telco and Retail Director at Revolut, said its success with eSIM proves mobile offerings are ripe for disruption. “In our view, consumers are suffering with their traditional network offerings due to a lack of transparency with hidden fees, painful customer experience and old, difficult to navigate UX.” He added it was another step for Revolut into telecoms where innovation is desperately overdue.
