IFA 2017: DT will continue to invest in fiber-optic network
At the opening of IFA 2017, Niek Jan van Damme, member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom AG responsible for Germany, made a clear commitment to expanding the broadband network in Germany and explained the measures that have been taken so far. “I am very proud that we currently run the largest fiber-optic network in Germany, with approximately 455,000 kilometers of cables,” said van Damme. “Through our investment, we have succeeded in more than doubling the overall size of the network since 2007.” As a result of this expansion, Deutsche Telekom has gained more fiber-optic customers than any other European network operator, with approximately 8.2 million lines.

Good results of HT in the first quarter - revenue and profit growth
Hrvatski Telekom (Reuters: HT.ZA; Bloomberg: HTRA CZ), the strongest domestic telecom operator, has achieved revenue growth in the first three months of 2017, an increase of 8.7 percent compared to the same period last year and it amounts to HRK 1.818 million. Apart from the contributions of Crnogorski Telekom, revenue has increased in these key segments: mobile telecommunications, broadband access and television, wholesale and energy. Given the different dynamics of projects compared to the first quarter of 2016, there was less deviation in the realization of revenues from system solutions in the first quarter of this year. Without the contribution of Crnogorski Telekom, the revenue is 0.2 percent lower.
COMMENTARY: Very good results of Vipnet
Domestic telecom operator Vipnet has grown in all segments of its business in the first quarter, and this may also be due to the consolidation of Metronet's revenue that has been consolidated since February 1 when this domestic fixed-to-business telecom operator enters into consolidation.
Vipnet achieved growth of 11.2 percent in revenue, and of 21.3 percent in profit
The second largest domestic telecom operator, Vipnet, in the first quarter of this year achieved revenue of EUR 98.4 million, with growth in revenue of 11.2 percent. In the same period, the profit before interest, amortization and depreciation (EBITDA) increased by as much as 21.3 percent to EUR 21.2 million, according to Vipnet's owner, Telekom Austria, owned by America Móvil.
