All Eyes Are on 5G Network and What it Brings to Everyone

We see a future in 5G phones, and one of our main goals is to speed up the visibility of 5G smartphones, said in an interview for ICTbusiness.info Stephen Taylor, Marketing Director at HMD Global. According to him, we responded to the needs of our customers and presented them with a portfolio of innovative services with HMD Connect in March 2020, HMD Connect Pro in September and HMD Mobile service in April 2021.

The crisis has pushed sales of smartphones, but tablets and computers in general. How does HMD Global cope with that, how does it go with Nokia's smart phones?

The first half of last year was affected by the Covid pandemic, but due to HMD’s increased efforts in online stores, the situation improved in the second half. Since 2019, HMD has transformed its business to ensure continued growth.

What are your expectations with the arrival of 5G networks and the continued growth of smartphone sales?

HMD’s mission is providing accessible connectivity for everyone from feature phones to smartphones and innovative services. One of our main goals is accelerating 5G smartphone visibility. We launched our first 5G phone, the 8.3 5G in September 2020 and our X-series range is also 5G enabled.

How much is the HMD or Nokia brand affected by the lack of processors in the market, which is putting pressure on many industries?
The global eco-system remains challenging with global production bottlenecks in semiconductors and other important components.

What type of smartphones do users expect today - the premium segment continues to grow regardless of the fact that prices continue to rise. There are more and more players in the midrange segment. How do you see Nokia's position?

Nokia phones places consumers at the centre of everything we do. Our mission is providing accessible connectivity for everyone and we focus on three areas that consumers care about, phones that people love, trust and want to keep. Our top of the range Nokia X-series, intermediate G-series and entry-level C-series all deliver the quality experience that consumers have come to expect. Products that are built to last inside and out thanks to industry-leading security, superior durability, and the promise to provide the latest software, so you can keep your phone for longer.

In addition, we have responded to our consumers needs and introduced an innovative services portfolio with HMD Connect in March 2020, HMD Connect Pro in September and HMD Mobile in April 2021. With a continued focus on Enterprise customers, we have also introduced an Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution for IoT and enterprise use, HMD Enable Pro in May and in June announced a strategic collaborations with Nokia which will underpin the growth and development of our enterprise Internet of Things offerings to businesses worldwide.
