According to media reports, Apple faces delays in producing its first foldable phone. The reports claim that the company remains on track to ship the model in September.

Apple reportedly faced engineering obstacles and potential delays to production and shipments. However, the vendor remains determined to release the device around the same time as its latest iPhones, though it acknowledged that production is not yet underway and that initial supplies could be constrained by the complexity of its display and the materials involved.

The company believes it has addressed major concerns for the foldable, including screen durability and visible creasing. It plans to optimise iOS, so apps behave more like iPad software when the device is unfolded.

The foldable is a key element of Apple’s multi-year strategy to refresh its flagship product line and compete more directly with Samsung, Google, and Chinese rivals, including Oppo, which already sells foldables. According to reports, the potential price of the foldable iPhone would be $2,000, placed in the upper end of smartphone tiers.
