Apple Strikes AI Deal with Google
After numerous rumors and speculations, the tie-up between Apple and Google came to fruition.

After numerous rumors and speculations, the tie-up between Apple and Google came to fruition. The iPhone-maker entered into a multiyear deal to use Gemini AI models across its devices and for a major Siri upgrade later this year.
The two companies stated the next generation of Apple Foundation Models will tap into Google’s Gemini models and cloud technology to power future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalised Siri coming this year. “After careful evaluation, Apple determined that Google’s AI technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models and is excited about the innovative new experiences it will unlock for Apple users,” Google and Apple said in a joint statement.
Apple fell behind rivals in implementing AI across its iPhones and other devices. It struggled to develop in-house AI expertise, which ultimately led it to seek partnerships with players such as Google and OpenAI. In August 2025, Google and OpenAI were conducting early talks with Apple about using its Gemini models to reboot Siri. While the financial terms of the agreement are not available, the earlier rumors suggest that the deal could be worth around $1 billion annually.
