As a part of a national probe into AI chatbot Grok, French authorities raided the Paris offices of X.

As a part of a national probe into AI chatbot Grok, French authorities raided the Paris offices of X. The Paris public prosecutor’s office, French cybercrime units, and Interpol were involved in the search of the offices.
The raid was part of a probe launched in 2025 into X’s algorithms, which has since been widened to address the spread of sexualized images through Grok. The owner of Social Network, Elon Musk, and CEO Linda Yaccarino have been asked to attend voluntary interviews in Paris in April.
In a statement, the prosecutor’s office explained that the investigation is part of a constructive approach to ultimately ensure X's compliance with French law. It added that the probe is at a preliminary stage and no charges have been brought.
Separately, the UK opened a new probe into X, with the country’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) also taking action against Grok. The ICO stated it opened an investigation in conjunction with the regulator Ofcom around user data concerns related to the AI tool.
