OTE Group signed agreements for the sale of Telekom Romania Mobile Communications. The deal is worth €70 million, as the asset would be split between Vodafone Group and Digi Romania.
Under the agreement, Digi will pay €40 million for the prepaid business, some spectrum rights, and part of Telekom Romania’s tower portfolio, while Vodafone is set to pay €30 million for the remainder. Figures are before any standard adjustments. The deal follows a memorandum of understanding signed by the trio in October 2024. OTE noted the agreement had already received approval from the Romanian Competition Commission.
Kostas Nebis, OTE chairman and CEO, said the pact was fully aligned with a strategic focus of portfolio optimization and enhancing shareholder value. “The agreement with Vodafone and Digi will facilitate infrastructure investments, enable more efficient network development, and enhance customer service, contributing to the ongoing digital transformation of Romania’s economy and society,” he added.
In her company’s statement on the deal, Vodafone Group CEO Margherita Della Valle highlighted that the move strengthens their position in Romania by increasing local scale and unlocking significant synergy benefits. “It supports our strategy of building strong positions in growing markets, which enables us to invest in the high-quality networks our customers rely on.”
