Telefónica is once again at the top of GlobalData’s Telecom Services Sector Scorecard for Q3 2023. The service analyses and ranks the positioning of the 58 most important international telecoms in the world in the 10 most important themes in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) industry.
In this ranking, GlobalData uses a unique thematic methodology to assess and rank the extent to which companies are prepared for the future based on their position in eleven themes. These are digitalization, 5G, cybersecurity, and cloud (each weighted 15%), followed by ESG and future of work (each with a 10% weighting), and the Internet of Things, big data, telecom convergence, and geopolitics (each with a 5% weighting).
Telefónica, which provides digital services in cybersecurity, cloud, IoT, and big data through Telefónica Tech, achieved the highest score (five out of five) in digitalization, and, with a score of four out of five, beat the number two and number three overall ranked telcos in the cloud. Telefónica also scored four out of five in 5G, cybersecurity, IoT, ESG, telecom convergence, and future of work.
“Telefónica stands out as the unrivaled leader in the GlobalData Telecom Services Sector Scorecard Update, a significant proof point of our unparalleled digital prowess, underpinned by our differentiated global capabilities. We are a driving force in shaping the future of the TMT sector,” said Mario Silva, Strategy Director at Telefónica Tech.
