Telenor joined companies achieving hallmark IoT device connection numbers. Its dedicated business unit broke the 30 million mark.

The operator added its figure to a recent flurry of announcements regarding IoT device connections by companies including Aeris and Netmore Group. Context on Telenor’s figure was provided in data released by research company IoT Analytics last week, indicating a total of 24.1 billion compatible devices were connected globally at the end of 2025.

Telenor stated it made significant progress in the IoT segment over the past 12 months, growing its global business and offering innovations around the connectivity and management of devices. It explained that AI analytics are a recent addition and highlighted its backing for the GSMA’s SGP.32 eSIM standard.

Telenor Connexion CEO and head of its IoT business, Mats Lundquist, said breaking 30 million devices validates its approach to global markets. He said the operator wants to be the first choice for IoT and would explore further innovations to achieve the goal. Telenor IoT noted traction in the US and Asia, with local operations giving it a leg up and helping to tackle roaming challenges. It also launched a vehicle-specific system compatible with current software-defined car trends.
