Investment company Brookfield partnered with Telia as a sovereign AI service provider in Sweden. The two companies signed a SEK95 billion ($10.1 billion) commitment to deliver relevant infrastructure in the nation.
The operator said that it would be the largest initiative of its kind in Sweden. Telia stated its system integration business would handle the job as part of a long-term strategic partnership with Brookfield. The operator holds exclusive rights to promote and sell the resulting AI cloud services, with domestic enterprise and public sector customers as its targets.
Swedish operator is gearing up to connect the investment company’s AI facilities to its national fibre network and provide core digital infrastructure elements. It explained that the Brookfield deal is a win for its Telia Cygate division after it recently established a dedicated sovereign AI unit. This business is to run a secure operations facility inside the data centres.
Anders Olsson, head of Telia Sweden, said the benefit of the Brookfield deal would extend beyond Sweden, helping to strengthen European AI capabilities and digital sovereignty. Sectors Olsson expects to benefit span from healthcare, government, and research institutions, to banking and energy. Sikander Rashid, head of AI infrastructure and head of Europe at Brookfield, noted that the sovereign arrangement builds on a longstanding relationship with Telia.
