French company Mistral AI continues towards an ambition to build 200MW of data center computing capacity in Europe by the end of 2027. The AI player has secured $830 million in debt financing to upgrade capabilities at a facility near Paris.

The cash will be used to purchase 13,800 Nvidia GB300 GPUs for a center in Bruyeres-le-Chatel, which Mistral AI noted would bring its capacity to 44MW.   Lenders are Bpifrance, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole CIB, HSBC, La Banque Postale, MUFG, and Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking.

The AI company said that the backing underscores investors’ confidence in their vision: Europe needs an ambitious AI cloud infrastructure and an independent AI stack. Mistral AI is building infrastructure in Europe to support demand for sovereign AI from governments and enterprises, with the majority of main players in the highly-hyped segment from the US or China.

In February, the company announced a partnership with EcoDataCenter to spend €1.2 billion in data centre infrastructure in Sweden. The move was promoted as Mistral AI’s first investment of a kind realized outside of France.
