According to media reports, Samsung decided to use its Exynos 2600 chip across the Galaxy S26 series in selected markets. If the information proves to be relevant, this would be the vendor's first use of its own processor in a flagship model in four years.

A source said that tests indicated a strong performance for the Exynos 2600 compared with competitors’ application processors, and the company commenced mass production. In a post on X, South Korea-based tech analyst Jukan said the vendor confirmed it will use the Exynos 2600 in the standard S26 model, as well as the Plus and Ultra versions in certain markets. The smartphone range is expected to be released next year.

The analyst noted Samsung generally follows a dual-sourcing strategy, using both Qualcomm and Exynos chipsets. The Exynos share in the S26 line-up is expected to be around 50%, with Korean and European models equipped with its chips, and handsets going to the US, Japan, and China fitted with Qualcomm’s.

The move indicates that Samsung’s designs of advanced chips are making progress compared with rivals. Jukan cited internal test data showing Exynos 2600’s GPU performance is up to 75% higher than Apple’s A19 Pro chipset and up to 29% higher compared with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite chipset.
